So you’ve reached the fantasy football playoffs. Fortunately I have, too, in four of my seven leagues. Sadly Quinton Ganther prevented that from happening in the RexQB League, but I guess I can’t really complain about that.
I won the league two years ago with a RB trio of Darius Walker, Kolby Smith, and Kenny Watson. I know I constantly mention this (most importantly to annoy the hell out of Torry Hallelujah, who I beat in the finals that year), but the trend of no-name guys being difference-makers continues to be relevant. This year is no different with guys like Ganther and Arian Foster popping up in waiver wire columns all over the place. But which of these guys are legit and which should be picking up Flozell Adams’ dry cleaning? Let’s investigate.
Arian Foster (RB – HOU)
We’ll start at the top, where Foster sits after likely being the hottest waiver wire commodity in your league this week. Foster’s the latest to jump to the front of the Texans’ rotating door at RB, but he does so at the right time. The Rams await Foster on the schedule this week, a match-up that any fantasy owner would dream for. With injuries to numerous RBs in recent weeks, Foster is a startable commodity and could squeeze in some nice numbers for you going forward.
Maurice Morris (RB – DET)
You probably know the name, and that’s a good thing for you and bad for Morris as a fantasy asset. You shouldn’t want to own this guy under any circumstances except for roster depth. If you’re starting him in the playoffs, you might as well tie yourself to a chair and have someone taser your nuts. Morris sucks and Adrian Brown is sniffing around to steal some work. The Lions are looking to next year and fantasy owners should as well with regards to the Lions’ backfield.
Chris Jennings (RB – CLE)
You probably fell for picking up Jerome Harrison, Marble Ryan’s soulmate, after Week 13, thinking he’d cemented himself as the Browns feature back. But despite Harrison’s performance in the previous week against the Chargers, it was Chris Jennings who saw many carries and found paydirt against the Steelers last week. He should be the feature back going forward and the Chiefs do provide a nice opportunity for this weekend. I reiterate SHOULD because there are rumors surfacing in Cleveland that Josh Cribbs may be moved to RB permanently, so be a little cautious with your expectations for Jennings.
Keith Null (QB – STL)
I’m just making sure you’re paying attention. Keith Null is not the answer to any of your problems.
Jason Campbell, Fred Davis, and Quinton Ganther (QB, TE, RB – WAS)
While Campbell is a name you know, you might not realize he’s operating a somewhat powerful offense these days. Campbell has thrown for at least two TDs in the last three games and has the pathetic Giants secondary in his sights this week. Who knew Bingo could be this fun? Campbell has to throw to someone, and lately Davis has been that guy. We clued you in with Davis a few weeks ago, so hopefully you were paying attention. Ganther showed you what he could do against the Raiders last week and you should expect similar production going forward.
Devin Aromashodu (WR – CHI)
It was embarrassing watching Chris Berman butcher Davin’s name on Sportscenter on Sunday night considering Aromashodu was a known commodity at Auburn. Owning him, however, will be as satisfying as a week vacation’s from work in a house without working Internet. Call up your cable provider, get yourself a working modem, and search xvideos.com for one of the many Devins performing better than Aromashodu will going forward.
