Start/Sit, Week 14

You Know Who You Should Sit?

Jeremy Shockey (TE – NO)
There was a time in his career when Shockey would complain about not seeing enough of the football, regardless of his team’s record. Putting up 12 total fantasy points’ worth of yardage over a six game stretch would send young Jeremy into a tizzy. But now Shockey’s on the Saints, and you can’t exactly demand the rock when your team is undefeated. It seems as if Shockey’s taking things in stride, though. Stories have been leaking around the clock about Shockey’s transgressions with multiple women. No wait, that’s Tiger Woods – a grad from The U knows better than to be married at age 29. J-Shock is enjoying the lifestyle in Nawlins, so his lack of production is no longer an issue. It is, however, an issue for fantasy owners, as there are some jabronies out there who still think our man is a top five TE. While I am a fan of Shockey’s work, both on and off the field, it’s time to recognize that his value as a fantasy player has been greatly overstated. He hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 7 and the emergence of Robert Meachem has given Brees yet another target to throw to. Send him to the showers and look to the wire for a better option.

You know who else you should sit?

Ben Roethlisberger (QB – PIT)
The weather is supposed to be miserable, the offense is struggling, and go-to receiver Hines Ward is likely out. All three factors do not bode well for our friend Big Gay Ben.

Matt Forte (RB – CHI)
Don’t be confused by Forte’s palatable game last week. It was against the Rams and he shouldn’t done better. The season began with Forte getting shut down by the Packers and while you’ve probably blocked his Week 1 performance from your mind, you can expect a repeat performance when this Sunday rolls around.

Marion Barber (RB – DAL)
There was so much hope for Barber before the season, but now he can’t even get back to being an effective goal line back. He hasn’t scored a TD since Week 8 and he’s splitting carries with two other RBs. Oy vey.

Jeremy Maclin (WR – PHI)
The Giants are known for being burned by skilled receivers, but Maclin’s greatest asset, speed, is compromised by a foot injury. McNabb doesn’t have a great history of yardage in recent Meadowlands’ visits, so there might not be that much to go around for the Eagles.
